I finished animating and saving a animation on gimp. then I went to preview it, only to find that the quality of the photo had decreased to much. I don’t know how to make it look less pixelated. I dont want to spend time smudging and bluring only to find that when I re-save it. the quality of the photo hasen’t improved. or it went back to being pixelated.

Please help. This is confusing me.

How is the Image quality?

The Only thing that I can think of is creating a new canvas for the images with 144 ppi resolution instead of the default 72 ppi. To check this click Alt + Return (Enter). If it is not 144 ppi then create a new canvas with the same size specifications, select the rectangle selection tool (R) and click Ctrl + A on the Image, Ctrl + C and click on Ctrl + V on the new canvas. Create a new layer and proceed to copy the rest of the layers over.

Work on it in the size you’re going to save it. Changing size causes pixelation.

there should be option, when saving on gif format
